8th grade students and families of New Hampton Middle School as well as St. Joe’s in New Hampton are invited to learn more Monday (Oct. 26) night about the 8th Grade Lions Club Washington, D.C. Trip for next summer.
Trip leader Jen Waddell encourages parents and students to attend the informational session together at 5:30 PM in the New Hampton High School Cafeteria. Waddell says the trip, scheduled for July 17–24, 2027, includes various unforgettable educational experiences, with students visiting historic sites, cultural attractions and national landmarks.
There’s also a special visit to Arlington National Cemetery.
Waddell says details of the itinerary, coordinated with Legacy Travel, will be discussed during the informational session to address parent questions.
Waddell says parents will have to pay their own way, while students who commit to the trip, which must be done within the next two weeks, will be able to fundraise to help cover their cost.
Waddell says students will get raffle tickets in time to sell over Christmas Break through the end of January.
For those unable to attend the trip meeting, contact Waddell at 319-240-5842.
Waddell notes that upwards of 80 8th grade students have made past trips to D.C.
