Groups React to the EPA Reallocation Proposal

Good news for Iowa’s corn and soybean growers: the EPA is proposing to restore 100% of the biofuel volumes lost to small refinery exemptions under the Renewable Fuel Standard.
If finalized, this move will reallocate the waived 2025 volumes back into our 2026 and 2027 blending requirements, helping offset the hit from the dozens of exemptions handed out back in August.
Leaders from both the National Corn Growers Association and the American Soybean Association—including Iowa’s own Dave Walton—are pushing hard for this proposal. They emphasize that strong, reliable domestic biofuel policies are critical right now to drive much-needed demand for homegrown grain during a tough farm economy.
Iowa farm groups are urging the EPA to lock this in fast. The public comment window is open now through December 4th.
