Floyd County Campgrounds to Close for the Season After This Weekend

This past Saturday (Oct. 10), Sunday (Oct. 11) and Monday (Oct. 12) saw temps pushing towards 90 degrees. But it is October and warm days like those will soon be gone for the fall and winter seasons.

Floyd County Naturalist Heidi Reams has a similar message for camping enthusiasts.

Reams also notes, while the park itself will remain open, the Fossil and Prairie Center west of Rockford will also be closing soon for 2026.

Before that closure, Reams is offering special tours this Sunday.

To register, visit https://www.mycountyparks.com/County/Floyd/Events.

Again, each tour is limited to five riders.

***Notice From Chickasaw County Conservation: Split Rock Park water will be shut down on Wednesday (Oct. 14). The shower house will not be available until spring opening. Camping is still available without water.
