Wear Orange for Hunger Action Day on Tuesday (Sept. 29)

September is Hunger Action Month, highlighted by Hunger Action Day on Tuesday (Sept. 29).
That’s Jen Burton with the Floyd County Food Pantry in downtown Charles City, who says action could be in the form of a food drive, which she can help you coordinate. Monetary donations also allow the pantry to buy food.
Burton says any action can help the food pantry, where the number of households served has risen from 100 in February to over 200 in August.
Laurie Kristiansen, director of the Nashua Food Pantry, also encourages Hunger Action, with food insecurity affecting more and more people.
Kristiansen says data shows about 13% of residents in Floyd County and 11% in Chickasaw County face food insecurity.
To show your support of Hunger Action Day on Tuesday, wear orange to promote hunger awareness. You’re also asked to share photos on social media using the hashtag #HungerActionMonth.
