Former Childhood Actor Sentenced to Federal Prison for Illegal Possession of a Stolen Firearm in North Iowa

A man who previously appeared on MTV’s Wild ‘N Out, 30 Rock, That’s So Raven, and Tyler Perry’s House of Payne, as well as playing “Ronnie Shields” in the movie Role Models, has been sentenced to more than two years in federal prison, the result of his apprehension in north Iowa.
Evidence in the case revealed that on September 22, 2025, law enforcement clocked a vehicle driven by 30-year-old Bobbe Thompson of Kansas City, going 104 mph, in a 70-mph zone in Cerro Gordo County. Law enforcement conducted a traffic stop and as an officer was exiting his squad car, he observed Thompson and the passenger switch seats. The odor of marijuana was also emitting from the vehicle.
During a search of the vehicle, officers found a backpack belonging to Thompson containing multiple bags of dispensary-bought marijuana, plus a .40 caliber handgun that was fully loaded with a 15-round magazine, and a round in the chamber. The firearm was reported stolen from Kansas City.
Thompson’s criminal history includes acts of violence, with convictions in 2020 for battery with serious bodily injury and assault with force (possibly resulting in great bodily injury). His criminal history also includes a 2022 conviction for prohibited possession of a firearm.
In April, Thompson pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm by a felon. On Wednesday (Sept. 16), he was sentenced in Sioux City by United States District Court Judge Leonard T. Strand to 30 months in federal prison, plus a three-year term of supervised release after prison.
Thompson is being held in the United States Marshal’s custody until he can be transported to a federal prison.
The case was investigated by Iowa State Patrol, Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office, and the Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement.
