Expect Increased Law Enforcement Presence Labor Day Weekend

Iowa law enforcement agencies will be on high alert through the Labor Day Weekend looking to decrease impaired driving and cut down on traffic fatalities.

That’s Chickasaw County Sheriff Ryan Shawver, who says they are participating in the Governor’s Traffic Safety Bureau Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over high-visibility enforcement project.

Shawver says they’ll also be watching for lack of seat belt use through Labor Day.

According to the GTSB, last year, during the final four weeks of summer, there were 36 traffic fatalities in Iowa; with one-third of those fatalities caused by impaired drivers.
