Rob Sand proposes expanding farm income streams

Democratic gubernatorial candidate Rob Sand released policy priorities Wednesday to support Iowa farms. Sand, in a statement announcing his “Opportunities for All” plan, said he never felt a lack of opportunity growing up in a small town. The policy states “it’s not the farmers who need to work harder – it’s the farms that need to work smarter.”

As found in the plan, these are Sand’s plans for saving farmers:

  • Invest in sustainable commodities
  • Invest and expand in renewable energy production
  • Increase Investment in Local/Regional Food Programs
  • Establish the Office of Rural Prosperity
