County, State Crews Upping Paved Road Speed Limits to 60 MPH

Speed limits on most Iowa two-lane paved roads are going from 55 MPH to 60 MPH as of Wednesday (07.01).

That’s Floyd County Engineer Adam Miller addressing the Board of Supervisors on Tuesday (06.30), when he also presented a list of eight roads or stretches of road he recommended remain at 55 MPH.

As for those making the switch.

In Chickasaw County, County Engineer Roman Lensing says his crews hope to have all the signs switching from 55 to 60 MPH to be completed by the end of the day Thursday (07.02).

Lensing and other road officials remind motorists that, even for roads going from 55 to 60 MPH, it’s not official until the 60 MPH signs are in place.
