Two People Injured in Multiple Vehicle Crash Near Osage Identified

Two people were injured after a three-vehicle collision Monday (06.29) afternoon in Mitchell County.

The Iowa State Patrol (ISP) says the wreck occurred on Highway 9, just west of Osage, shortly after 4 PM. A westbound Pontiac Solstice, driven by 66-year-old Jay Schaub of Grafton,  rear-ended a westbound Chevy Silverado, driven by 43-year-old Jason Elgin of Rudd, near the intersection with River Road.

The Solstice then crashed head-on with a second Chevy Silverado, driven by 37-year-old Hakkon Rosendahl of Osage, which was heading east on Highway 9.

ISP says Schaub and Elgin were both taken by ambulance to Mitchell County Regional Health System in Osage. Schaub suffered what are described as life-threatening injuries. Elgin’s injuries were deemed non-life threatening.

The Mitchell County Sheriff’s Office, Mitchell County EMS, and Osage Towing & Repair assisted at the scene.

ISP says this accident remains under investigation.
