City Hall Remodel in Charles City Closing in on Substantial Completion

Since January 2025, City Hall in Charles City, which also houses the police department, has been undergoing a remodel and renovation that also caused the relocation of City offices and the PD to temporary homes.
City Hall staff have called 507 Clark Street their interim home, while CCPD, along with Park-Rec, have spent the past 17 months at 623 Beck Street. Neither can move back into City Hall until the project reaches “substantial completion.”
That’s Mayor Dean Andrews, who says CCPD may be able to move in sooner than the rest of City Hall.
Andrews adds that, even when City Hall staff can make their move, it won’t happen overnight.
The project is estimated to cost about $5 million.
