Chickasaw County Public Health Continues Distribution of Free Radon Testing Kits

Chickasaw County Public Health continues its mobile distribution of free radon testing kits.

Public Health Administrator Lisa Welter says the radon test kits are available through a grant through the “Combat to Cancer” program.

Welter says their radon testing kits are available in Chickasaw and Howard Counties, though you must meet certain criteria.

Welter says kits are available at the Public Health office in New Hampton and they’re also making the rounds for mobile distribution, including from 6 to 7 PM Monday (Sept. 21) at the Lime Springs Public Library.

Additional stops are planned for this Thursday (Sept. 24) from 2 to 3 PM at the Lawler Public Library and from 3:30 to 5:15 PM at the Upham Memorial Library in Fredericksburg. On October 1st, radon kits will be available at the Elma Public Library from 1 to 2 PM and the Alta Vista Public Library from 2:30 to 3:30 PM.

Contact Chickasaw County Public Health for more information.

Funding to support “Combat to Cancer” comes from the Healthy Hometowns – Iowa’s Rural Health Transformation Plan. This statewide initiative is receiving $200 million annually to support and improve rural healthcare across Iowa.
