Charles City DOT Maintenance Garage to Host Snowplow Operator Hiring Event

As Iowa prepares for another winter season, the Iowa DOT is partnering with the IowaWORKS mobile unit to host a multi‑city Snowplow Operator Hiring Event Series at DOT maintenance garages, including Charles City.

The DOT says these events aim to recruit more than 500 seasonal snowplow operators to keep Iowa’s roads safe and communities connected during winter weather.

At each location, job seekers will be able to apply on site for any garage hiring in the area, meet Iowa DOT and IowaWORKS staff, ask questions about job responsibilities, schedules, and pay. You’ll also learn more about what it means to serve Iowans during winter storms.

Snowplow equipment and vehicles will be present on site, offering opportunities for visual footage and photography. Iowa DOT staff will also be available at every location for interviews.

Event Details

All events run from 3 to 5:30 PM and includes Iowa DOT maintenance garages:

  • Sept. 22: Charles City (600 18th St.)
  • Oct. 1: Iowa Falls (1035 Industrial Park Road)
