Car Parade Saturday (Sept. 12) for Former Charles City Schools Finance Director Battling Cancer

Former colleagues and friends are asked to join a car parade this Saturday (09.12) in support of a retired long-time Director of Finance for the Charles City School District who is battling cancer.

Terri O’Brien retired a few years ago after 23 years of service for the school district. In August, she began chemotherapy for cancer, making her immune system more vulnerable to infection. Thus, organizers of the car parade are looking to show their love and encouragement for Terri while keeping her safely at home.

The car parade looks to take that encouragement to Terri, who will be out in the driveway of her home in Greene Saturday as vehicles drive by and cheer her on. Participants are to gather at 10 AM Saturday morning at City Hall in Greene, where parade route directions will be provided. You’re also encouraged to decorate your vehicles, with some supplies on hand, along with coffee and doughnuts.

As the car parade passes Terri’s driveway, participants are urged to make some noise, whether it’s playing an encouraging song on your car stereo, a silly cheer, blaring party horns, and/or shouting your support for Terri. Or simply drive by with a big smile and a wave.

Organizers add, “We want Terri to feel our love, hear our encouragement, and know that she is NOT ALONE!”
