Traffic Pattern Change on Iowa 9 in Decorah in Place Until Wednesday (Sept. 2)

The next phase of construction is underway on Iowa 9 in Decorah.

Traffic has been shifted into a head-to-head traffic pattern on the newly constructed eastbound lanes, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s New Hampton construction office.

The pavement reconstruction project on Iowa 9 runs from U.S. 52 to Pleasant Avenue. Some of the lane separation devices along the centerline of the head-to-head traffic pattern will need to be reset.

  • A pilot car and flaggers will direct traffic through the work zone while crews complete the work.
  • The work will be completed Wednesday night, Sept. 2, weather permitting.
  • Temporary lighting will illuminate the flaggers and work area.

Pete Hjelmstad with the Iowa DOT’s Mason City District office says the Highway 9 project is just one example in recycling the road being replaced.
