Renovated City Hall in Charles City Open for Business, Staff Still Settling In

The newly renovated City Hall at 900 Clark Street in Charles City is back open for business.

After some 19 months in temporary locations, City staff and the police department moved back in earlier this week. City Clerk Brittney Lentz says it took a group effort to resume City Hall operations on Thursday (08.20).

Lentz and City Administrator Tyler Trout were not on staff when the remodel project started in January 2025.

Lentz adds that their permanent home is much secure, offering more safety than when they were in their temp location at 507 Clark Street.

Lentz also notes that the old drive-up payment drop box is still accessible at 507 Clark Street and, while it will be eventually be relocated to City Hall, there is also a payment drop box now near the entrance to the revamped City Hall, subject of some $5 million in upgrades and improvements.

City Hall is under new office hours of 8 AM to 4:30 PM Monday through Friday.
