Major Concrete Pour for New Mississippi Bridge at Lansing Set for Monday (Aug. 24)

Another milestone in the construction of the new Mississippi River bridge at Lansing is expected to be reached on Monday (08.24).

Pete Hjelmstad with the Iowa DOT’s Mason City District Office says crews will be completing the final concrete pour on the deck of the new bridge.

Because of that work, drivers should expect delays in the Highway 9 and Highway 26 work zone near the bridge between 6 AM and 2 PM due to the traffic of  ready-mix trucks. Traffic signals currently in place will continue to guide cars through the work zone.

The DOT says additional flaggers will also be on site to briefly stop traffic when needed so trucks can safely enter and exit the area.

The bridge is targeted for completion next spring.
