Take 2 on Final “Party in The Park” in Charles City Won’t Take Flight Friday (08.14) Night

“Take 2” for Charles City’s final Party in the Park (PIP) for 2026 won’t take flight Friday (08.14) night.

Steady rainfall last Friday (08.07) forced the postponement of PIP to this week. However, for the second Friday in a row, weather has wiped out the event again.

Charles City Chamber of Commerce Director Mark Wicks says, “Mother Nature is just NOT cooperating with us again. The weather forecast is now calling for a 90% chance of rain and thunderstorms at 5, 6 and 7 p.m. Therefore we are calling off Party in the Park for this evening for safety reasons (and the fact we won’t get a crowd if it is raining at all).”

Wicks adds, “We hate to do it, but we need to make the call now before the band starts to travel or we (Main Street Charles City) are on the hook for that cost regardless (whether the band plays or not). We also need to let the food vendors know before they make all their food for the night.”

Wicks says the PIP Committee will look at any other options for possible rescheduling and will seek feedback from sponsors. As of now, nothing is planned at this point.
