Lions Field Pool Closed for Repairs, Set to Re-Open Thursday (08.06)

For the third time this summer, the Lions Field Pool in Charles City has been shut down for repairs. 

During Monday (08.03) night’s City Council meeting, City Administrator Tyler Trout said the pool has been closed earlier due to another leak in the pool that will require draining the pool.

A leak also forced closure of the pool in mid-July and, in early June, the pool was shut down for four days after a large piece of concrete broke away from the pool bed.

The latest update at Lions Field Pool on Facebook indicates the pool will re-open Thursday (08.06)

Meanwhile, the indoor pool at the Charles City YMCA remains closed for a large project that involved draining the pool so it can be sandblasted and re-plastered. Officials say the pool closure could last until August 29th.

The entire YMCA was closed last week for additional flooring and painting projects throughout the facility.

New Hampton Park-Rec posted a social media notice on Monday (08.03) that the last day of the 2026 pool season for the New Hampton Swimming Pool will be August 19th. The splash pad will remain open through Labor Day.
