UPDATE: Charles City Police, Area Law Enforcement Agencies Host National Night Out on Thursday

*Due to the threat of rain and storms, the Charles City National Night Out has been postponed to Thurs. Aug. 6th from 5:00pm to 7:30pm*
The Charles City Police Department (CCPD) invites the public to National Night Out from 5 to 7:30 pm Thursday (08.06) night in Central Park.
Police Chief Hugh Anderson says the event promotes positive police-community partnerships.
Anderson adds.
For the kids, there’s the Backpack Giveaway, with backpacks supplied by the Salvation Army and filled with school supplies provided by Zoetis.
United Way of North Central Iowa and Valero will also conduct its annual giveaways of new and/or gently used shoes. Kids must be present to get free shoes and backpacks.
National Night Out will also feature inflatables, face painting, balloon artist, foam party, pictures with a cop, and an opioid impaired driving simulation course.

Similar Night Out events are being hosted Tuesday night by the Decorah, Waverly, and Mason City police departments, as well as the Worth County Sheriff’s Office and the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office.
