North Iowa 19-Year-Old Sentenced to 10 Years in Prison on Sex Crimes

A North Iowa 19-year-old is headed to prison for up to a decade following his latest conviction on sex-related offenses.

According to criminal complaints filed by Mason City Police, 19-year-old Trenton Wise of Mason City knowingly possessed a video and photos of a 14-year-old female engaged in a prohibited sex act, as well as photos of a 16-year-old female engaged in a prohibited sex act. Some of the images were sent to Wise through a social media app, with additional images found on his cell phone.

Investigators said there was a no-contact order in place between Wise and his 16-year-old victim.

In March, Wise was charged with two counts of possession of a depiction of a minor in a sex act, Class D felonies; plus one count each of sexual exploitation of a minor, a Class C felony,  and sex offender registration violation, an aggravated misdemeanor.

In April, Wise pleaded guilty to the two counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, with the other charges dismissed in a plea agreement. On Tuesday (06.16), Cerro Gordo County District Court Judge Blake Norman sentenced Wise to five years in prison on each count, to be served consecutively, for a total of up to 10 years behind bars .

After prison, he must sign up with the Iowa Sex Offender Registry.

Wise was previously convicted of lascivious acts with a child and first-degree harassment.
