New Hampton Hires First Female Police Officer, One Position Left to Fill

The City of New Hampton has hired its first-ever female police officer.
The New Hampton City Council Monday (06.01) night approved the recommendation of Police Chief Conrad Rosendahl to hire Kassidi Havens to fill one of two open positions on the force. Havens is a certified police officer and has been employed by the City of Eldora Police Department.
She is expected to start working for the NHPD on June 14th. The hiring of Havens comes as former New Hampton Officer Jace Hall began working Tuesday (06.02) as a deputy for the Chickasaw County Sheriff’s Office.
Hall was hired by the City in March 2025 and became a fully certified officer in August 2025. In addition to the vacancy created by his departure, the NHPD recently parted ways with Officer Cory Frank, who had been unable to return to full active duty since suffering a back injury last summer.
City Clerk Karen Clemens says she believes New Hampton has never had a female police officer prior to bringing Havens on board.
Rosendahl, who will mark his second anniversary as New Hampton police chief on July 1st, says he has applicants for the remaining open position, though none of them are currently ILEA certified. Testing of the candidates will begin next week and, if someone passes tests and background checks, a hire could be made.
If that’s the case, Rosendahl says he or she would then attend the Police Academy in August. Upon graduation by the end of October/early November, the NHPD would again be fully staffed.
