Mae Francis (Siglin) Rodamaker, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on May 11, 2026, at the age of 91, at the 9th Street Chautauqua Care Facility in Charles City, Iowa.
Mae was a devoted member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and an active member of St. Theresa’s Circle for many years. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Reverend Tom Heathershaw officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Calvary Cemetery in Charles City. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the start of the Mass at the church on Saturday.
Mae was born on February 2, 1935, in New Hampton, Iowa, to Dan and Ruby Siglin. She grew up in the quaint town of Ionia, Iowa along with her five brothers and one sister. Mae was a beacon of warmth and kindness, embodying the spirit of an Irish heart with her quick wit and welcoming nature.
Mae was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold “Junior” Rodamaker; her two infant children, Bernadette and Roger; and four of her brothers.
Mae and Harold were married in June of 1954, and their marriage lasted almost 65 years until Harold passed in April of 2019. Together, they built a family that became her pride and joy. Mae was blessed with 15 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren, each of whom she adored and cherished dearly.
Mae is survived by her children: Mary Ayers of Charles City; Linda Rodamaker (Mark) Fabian of Denver, Colorado; Daniel (Kim) Rodamaker of Trenton, Tennessee; William (Marti) Rodamaker of Mason City; and Patrick (Beverly) Rodamaker of Shepherdsville, Kentucky; as well as her brother, Bill Siglin and her sister, Thelma Adams both of Charles City. All continue to carry on her legacy of love and compassion, along with her Irish wit and sense of humor.
Before fully embarking on her career, Mae found joy in the simple pleasures of life on the farm, where she lovingly preserved vegetables, jams, and pickles, with tomatoes being her absolute favorite to can. Her cellar was a testament to her dedication, filled to the brim with the fruits of her labor, each jar a symbol of her nurturing spirit.
Mae’s professional journey began with Avon, where she delighted in the personal connections she made with her clientele. This love for people and community led her to a fulfilling 20+ year career at First Citizens Bank. There, she spearheaded the Heritage Club, allowing her to explore national and international destinations, a testament to her adventurous spirit. Mae also trained other banks in setting up their own Heritage Clubs, sharing her wealth of knowledge and experience.
Retirement for Mae and Harold meant more adventures, as they formed Hometown Tours, exploring local area attractions and adventures, enriching their lives with new experiences and friendships.
Beyond her professional life and hobbies, Mae’s genuine warmth and her ability to visit with anyone and everyone made her a treasured friend to many. Her quick Irish wit brought joy and laughter to all those fortunate enough to know her.
In honoring Mae’s life, the family invites those who wish to donate to the Floyd County Cancer Fund at First Citizens Bank, 300 N Main St, Charles City, Iowa 50616, or the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 106 Chapel Lane, Charles City, Iowa 50616.
As her family fondly remembers, “Mae loved everyone, and we are thankful for the many friends and family she has had over the years that have been part of her journey. She will forever be the proud Irish mama that was so happy to be born on Groundhogs Day.”
Mae Francis Rodamaker leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and joy. Her memory will forever be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
