Charles City School District, City Agree to 28E for Community Resource Officer

The Charles City School District and the City of Charles City have entered into a 28E agreement for the police department to continue to provide a community resource officer to have a presence on school grounds.

During Monday (05.04) night’s City Council meeting, Councilwoman Phoebe Pittman, also a teacher in the school district, made the motion to approve the arrangement with CCPD Officer Duane Ollendiek.

Pittman also noted that Officer Ollendiek will make the rounds across all school buildings.

Mayor Dean Andrews agreed.

City Administrator Tyler Trout said the school district has received a grant to cover the $8,000 the district will pay the City for the CRO.
