Mason City Man Sentenced to 13 Years in Federal Prison for Meth Conspiracy, Distribution

A north Iowa man has been sentenced to over a decade in federal prison for drug trafficking.

Evidence against 45-year-old Kevin Knight of Mason City revealed that between January 2024 and continuing through February 2025, Knight was involved in an ongoing methamphetamine distribution conspiracy based in Mason City, where law enforcement documented Knight actively engaged in drug trafficking.  Knight has a lengthy criminal history, with prior convictions including numerous thefts, forgeries, and/or burglaries, a domestic abuse assault, and four prior meth-related convictions.

In October 2025, Knight pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute meth, and three counts of distribution of meth. Last Friday (03.06), Knight was sentenced in Sioux City by United States District Court Judge Leonard T. Strand to 13 years in federal prison.

He must also serve a five-year term of supervised release after prison.  There is no parole in the federal system.

Knight is being held in United States Marshal’s custody until he can be transported to a federal prison.

The case was investigated by the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office and the Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement.
