Latest Floyd County Medical Center Fundraising Gala Brings In Over $20K

Some 200 attendees dressed to the nines for an evening of elegance, friendly competition, and philanthropy at Floyd County Medical Center’s Casino Royale Fundraising gala last Friday (02.20) night.

With an atmosphere of a Vegas casino at the YEC on the Floyd County Fairgrounds, guests tried their hand at blackjack, craps, or one of the other gaming tables courtesy Royale Flush Gaming of Des Moines. More than 30 raffle prizes were also up for grabs.

This year’s event follows the success of FCMC’s first ever black-tie fundraising gala last February, which commemorated the Charles City hospital’s 65th anniversary and raised more than $40,000. For the 2026 gala, total revenue from sponsorships, tickets, raffle sales, a live auction, along with freewill donations, brought in more than $23,000.

FCMC Marketing and Community Engagement Director Makenzie McNeill said, “Our community came together to not only enjoy another evening of fun and entertainment, but we also continued to invest in the future of our local hospital. This is an extraordinary feat, and it would not have been possible without the support of each person in attendance and every local business who partnered with us.”

FCMC CEO Dawnett Willis noted that the more than $60,000, from the back-to-back galas, will be set aside for upcoming expansion and construction projects, including phase II of their current construction and a cancer center.

McNeill says FCMC has not decided on a date for their third fundraising gala, but last Friday’s attendees helped decide the next theme: a masquerade.
