North Iowa sisters were injured in a two-vehicle crash Tuesday (02.10) morning.
The Iowa State Patrol (ISP) says the collision occurred shortly before 7 am in New Hartford. A vehicle driven by a 15-year old Joclyn Bolhuis of Parkersburg was eastbound on Highway 57 and attempting to turn onto Butler County Road T55, when it was struck by a westbound semi driven by a 63-year-old Michael Heideman of Grundy Center.
Joclyn Bolhuis was taken by ambulance to Allen Hospital in Waterloo for medical attention. Her sister, 14-year-old Shonna Bolhuis was a passenger in the car. She was also injured and transported by AirCare helicopter to University of Iowa Health Care.
Heideman was not injured.
ISP was assisted at the scene by the Butler County Sheriff’s Office, MercyOne Ambulance, Cedar Falls Fire Department, New Hartford Fire Department and University of Iowa AirCare.
The Dike-New Hartford School District sent a letter to families and staff on Tuesday, saying that the sisters, who are students in the district, are table and are expected to be okay. The letter was sent with permission from the family.
