Charles City Elks Host “Beer Curling Championship” Saturday (01.31)

Charles City Elks Lodge is hosting its second-ever “Beer Curling Championship” this Saturday (01.31), as part of Cabin Fever Weekend in Charles City.
Elks Exalted Ruler Zach Sullivan says Beer Curling is similar to the curling you’ve seen on TV during the Olympics…kind of.
Sullivan says last year’s first “Beer Curling” event was so popular, they’re expanding the competition on Elks Lake from three lanes to six this weekend.
Sullivan says they’re capping the number of three-person teams this year at 64.
Cost is $30 per team, with advance sign-up by contacting Sullivan at 641-330-5924 or the Lodge (641) 228-1257. Sign-in Saturday morning begins at 9 am, with curling starting at 11 am. There will also be raffles and prize giveaways, including all 36 30-packs of beer used in the curling.
Food will also be available onsite for a free will offering and the bar will be open. Proceeds help fund Elks’ capital improvement projects.

***Ice on Elks Lake this Saturday should be no problem.
