Northeast Iowa Man Pleads Guilty to Sexually Abusing Minor

A northeast Iowa man has pleaded guilty to sexual abuse of a minor.
Monday (01.05) in Allamakee County District Court, 54-year-old Jonathon Hilleshiem of Waterville pleaded guilty to four counts of second-degree sexual abuse, all Class B felonies; plus one count of lascivious acts with a child, a Class C felony; and sexual exploitation of a minor, a Class D felony.
Charges of incest and exploitation of a minor – possession of depictions of a minor in sexual acts, both Class D felonies, were dismissed as part of a plea deal.
According to court documents, during the investigation, the victim spoke to authorities about the sexual abuse, believed to be more than 100 acts of illicit activity between 2014 and 2020.
Hilleshiem faces up to 60 years in prison when he is sentenced on February 9th. He must also register as a sex offender .
Another man arrested in conjunction with the investigation, 23-year-old Gary Kolsrud of Harpers Ferry, is scheduled for trial April 29th on a charge of third-degree sexual abuse, a Class C felony.
