Northeast Iowa Teen Dies in Two-Vehicle Collision

A northeast Iowa teenager died in a two-vehicle collision Tuesday (01.06) morning.
The Iowa State Patrol says the fatal wreck occurred shortly after 7:30 am Tuesday about 10 miles east of Waterloo. A car driven by 15-year-old Ciara Crisman of Waterloo was eastbound on Independence Avenue when she pulled out in front of a semi hauling grain driven by 35-year-old Travis Rink of Clarion at the intersection with South Canfield Road. Both vehicles ended up in the southeast corner of the intersection.
Crisman was pronounced dead at the scene. Rink was not injured.
Conditions were very foggy at the time but authorities did not say if that was a factor in the crash. The intersection was closed for several hours after the wreck while the incident was being investigated.
Also responding to the scene was the Black Hawk County Sheriff’s Office, Dunkerton Police Department, and Dunkerton Fire and Ambulance.
