Calls from “Charles City Sheriff’s Department” a Scam

If you get a call from the “Charles City Sheriff’s Department”…

That’s Charles City Police Captain Brandon Franke, who says the “scam alert” comes after the CCPD recently received a report from a citizen who had been targeted by a “suspect” caller.

Franke advises being extra cautious if you receive such a call, noting that scammers are unscrupulous in their efforts to take money from you.

Franke also warns that once the scammer bilks you out of money, it’s extremely difficult to recoup your losses.
