North Iowa Legislators Respond to Deaths of Iowa National Guard Members Killed in Syria

Statements from Pat Grassley, Mike Klimesh on Iowa National Guard Members Killed in Syria
North Iowa state legislators have issued responses to the deaths of Iowa National Guard members who were killed in Syria on Saturday
Speaker of the Iowa House Pat Grassley of New Hartford said, “Two Iowa soldiers were ruthlessly killed in an ambush that can only be described as evil. They were on a counter terrorism mission to bring peace and stability to the Middle East, and they will forever be remembered as vigilant Iowa warriors.
Their families will be in our prayers and may we never forget their service and sacrifice.”
Senate Majority Leader Mike Klimesh of Spillville said, “Hearing about the two Iowa National Guard members killed in Syria is truly heartbreaking. These Iowans dedicated their lives to serving their country and were in Syria on a counter-terrorism mission. They were trying to bring peace and stability to that region and were ruthlessly attacked carrying out those duties.
We are forever in their debt, and our thoughts and prayers are with their family, friends, fellow service members, and those injured during this time.”
