New Iowa Highway 3 Bridge In Waverly to Open Before Thanksgiving

Motorists who travel through Waverly will be giving thanks when the new Iowa Highway 3 bridge over the Cedar River in Waverly opens to traffic this week.

Pete Hjelmstad, with the Mason City District office of the Iowa DOT, says the East Bremer Avenue bridge in Waverly is almost complete after almost 16 months and several delays brought on by Mother Nature.

Hjelmstad says construction of the bridge was performed by PCI, with the bid let cost of around $8.4 million.
