North Iowa Native to Present Midwest Soil Erosion Research Findings at Luther Thursday (10.30)
A north Iowa native will present his research findings on the extent of soil erosion in the Midwest and associated implications for sustainable soil conservation practices at Luther College Thursday (10.30) night.
PHD Geoscientist Isaac Larsen, who grew up in Clear Lake, will deliver his lecture, “The Present, Past, and Future of Soil Erosion in the Midwestern United States,” at 7 pm in Valders 206 at Luther College in Decorah. The lecture is free and open to the public.
Laura Peterson, professor of environmental studies at Luther, said, “Isaac has researched erosion rates and landscape formation processes all around the world. Recently, he has turned his attention to agricultural erosion in the Midwest and has quickly become a leading researcher in this area.”
Larsen has conducted research at multiple field sites in Iowa and across the Midwest.
Peterson added, “Isaac’s research on soil erosion is a topic that hits close to home for him and for all of us in rural Iowa.”
Larsen’s lecture is sponsored by Luther College’s Center for Ethics and Public Engagement in collaboration with the Regenerating Soil and Community Project.
