Future Forward to Host Tour Friday (10.03) to Promote $30 Million Bond Measure for Charles City High School

Future Forward CC Bond 2025 invites voters in the Charles City School District to take a tour of Charles City High School this Friday (10.03) as they continue to promote passage of a $30 million bond referendum for renovations, upgrades and improvements to a building originally constructed over 65 years ago.

Committee member Brady Garden says approval of the measure is necessary to address some of the most basic needs for students.

The project also addresses the high school’s infamous circle, which Garden notes is not only unsafe, but also takes away from teacher interactions with students.

The tour will also show the inefficiencies of the current location of the kitchen.

Garden adds that Friday’s tour is also a great opportunity to learn more about what bond money can and cannot be used for.

Garden also stresses that bond money can not and does not go towards staff salaries. He also notes that the school district, by law, cannot spend more than the $30 million approved by voters.

Friday’s tour of CCHS begins at 7 am, is about one hour in length, and includes donuts and coffee.

The Future Forward committee will also host a Community Meeting on the bond referendum at 6:30 pm next Wednesday (10.08) at the High School.

Passage of the bond on November 4th requires a 60% supermajority YES vote.
