Three Suspects Arrested in North Iowa Drug Bust, One Wanted in Floyd County

Three people are facing drug trafficking charges after they were allegedly in possession of upwards of 10 pounds of narcotics.
The Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office says the investigation began after a traffic stop just before 7:30 pm Friday (09.19) night on northbound I-35 near mile marker 187. A search of the vehicle uncovered about eight pounds of methamphetamine and marijuana, leading to the arrests of 68-year-old Bruce Sogard and 69-year-old Mark Albrecht, both of Mason City.
Sogard and Albrecht are each charged with possession of meth with intent to deliver, and possession of cocaine with intent to deliver. Sogard was also charged with driving under suspension, with Albrecht also charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
About 20 minutes after the traffic stop, the North Central Iowa Narcotics Task Force Special Operations Ground carried out a search warrant at 19734 Quince Avenue on the northeast Side of Mason City, along with the Kossuth/Palo Alto/Emmett County Multi Agency Response Team (MART).
Meth and firearms were recovered and several subjects were located in the residence, including 66-year-old Barry Rowe of Mason City, wanted on a Floyd County warrant issued in August because he failed to serve his eight days in jail for his November 2024 conviction for leaving the scene of an accident that caused injury.
Sogard and Albrecht are being held in the Cerro Gordo County Jail with bail set at $40,000 and $13,000 cash-only bonds respectively. Rowe has been transferred to the Floyd County Jail and was being held on $1,000 cash-only bond. He faces a probation revocation hearing October 10th in Floyd County District Court.
More charges are possible in the investigation, which was also assisted by Iowa State Division of Narcotics Enforcement, Iowa State Patrol, Task Force SOG, Mason City Police Department and Mason City Fire Medics.
