Minnesota Man Who Threatened Law Enforcement, Located in Northeast Iowa, Now in Custody
A Minnesota man who allegedly made threats against law enforcement, forcing lockdowns of three school districts, was located in northeast Iowa but was not immediately arrested.
Olmsted County Minnesota Sheriff Kevin Torgerson said they were alerted to a video by 55-year-old Daniel Lewison, just after 9 am Thursday (09.18), that made threats against several officers and law-related officials. While the video, apparently recorded Sept. 16, did not contain threats directed at the staff of any school, it led to “soft lockdowns” of three Minnesota schools “out of an abundance of caution.”
Torgerson said Lewison was located by the Chickasaw County Sheriff’s Office shortly before noon Thursday.
However, Torgerson said they didn’t get the greenlight to arrest Lewison.
Thus, Torgerson said Lewison was free to leave…for the time being.
Shortly after 6 pm Thursday night, the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office posted to Facebook they had taken Lewison into custody, with the assistance of West Concord Police.
Torgerson said the Olmsted County Attorney could decide to file charges, which could range from disorderly conduct, all the way up to making terroristic threats.
