Joyce M. Key, 95, formerly of Charles City

Joyce M. Key, formerly of Charles City, Iowa, passed away on her 95th birthday, September 16, 2025. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on September 29, 2025, at Immaculate Conception Church in Charles City, with a Visitation beginning at 1 p.m. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Charles City.

Joyce M. Key was born September 16, 1930, in Marquette, Iowa, and graduated from Marquette High School in 1948. Shortly thereafter, Joyce moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota. Several years later, she and husband, Arden moved to Madison, Wisconsin, then Des Moines, Iowa, then Mason City, then Charles City in 1959, and finally to Marion, Iowa, in 2011. Most of her employment years were spent in bookkeeping, retiring from Floyd County Memorial Hospital in 1986. Many of her fondest memories, and dearest friends, were from her many years in bridge clubs and St. Theresa’s Circle at Immaculate Conception Church. She was an avid reader and frequently belonged to book clubs.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Esther (Pape) Geraghty; her brothers, William (Bonnie) Geraghty, James (Noreen) Geraghty, and Paul (Donna) Geraghty; her sister, Lorainne (Dick) Mero; and daughter, Linda. She is survived two sons, David (Tami) of Marion, and Tom (Janet) of Roseville, Minnesota; as well as six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

When he’s not busy butchering ‘80s power ballads, Chris enjoys starting overly ambitious home projects that rarely make it past the “great idea” stage. He lives in Charles City with his endlessly patient wife Vicki and their kids, Brynlee and Jaxon, who have already perfected the art of the eye‑roll every time Dad cracks another “dad joke.”
