KCHA Hosts Floyd County District 2 Supervisor Candidate Forum Tuesday (09.16) Night
A special election for the District 2 seat on the Floyd County Board of Supervisors is now one week away.
Former District 2 Supervisor Dennis Keifer passed away in June and, in July, Josh Neupert was appointed to fill Keifer’s seat. Despite Neupert’s appointment, a petition of eligible voters in District 2 was filed to force the special election, now set for September 23rd.
The Floyd County Republican nominee is Neupert, with former Floyd County Treasurer Frank Rottinghaus the Democratic nominee. Non-party candidates could also get on the ballot with at least 50 names of eligible voters in District 2, which includes all of Charles City north of the Cedar River, plus the part of St. Charles Township that is north of the city.
Aaron Hobert, member of the St. Charles Township Board of Trustees, and attorney and farmer Doug Lindaman are both running as independents.
You can hear from all four candidates during a special Candidates Forum starting at 6 pm Tuesday (09.16) night on 95.9 KCHA, with videostream available at www.kchanews.com.
There will also be a Candidates Forum this Thursday (09.18) at 7 pm at The Charles City Community Center.
Neupert will continue to serve as the appointed supervisor and whoever wins after voting results are certified will serve out the remainder of Keifer’s term, which runs until the end of 2026.
In-person absentee voting is open until September 22nd. Mail-in absentee ballots must be received by the Floyd County Auditor’s Office by election day. If they are received after September 23rd, the ballots will not be accepted.
All voting on Election Day must be done at Trinity United Methodist Church in Charles City, with polls open from 7 am to 8 pm September 23rd.
