Future Forward Committee Hosts Kickoff Meeting Wednesday (08.27) for $30 Million CCHS Bond Referendum

Enough signatures have been collected for a petition to put a bond referendum before voters this fall that, if approved, would fund up to $30 million in renovations, upgrades and improvements to Charles City High School.

Efforts to get the measure passed include the Future Forward Bond Committee, which will host a kickoff meeting with tours at 6 pm Wednesday (08.27) night in the High School Gymnasium. The group’s Tiffany Rottinghaus says it’s an opportunity for school district voters to be better educated on the basic needs of a high school building that was constructed over 65 years ago.

Rottinghaus says a lot of input was gathered to develop the building’s long list of upgrades.

Rottinghaus notes that the public, acros the school district, will share in the cost of the bond.

A tax calculator is available on the school district website which allows taxpayers to see how much their taxes may change if the bond passes on November 4th by a 60% supermajority YES vote.
