Chickasaw County Funds Increase in Anti-Drug Awareness for Area Schools
Chickasaw County Supervisors have approved funding to expand anti-drug awareness education already in place in at least two school districts, with hopes to bring at least one more school district into the fold.
During their regular Board meeting Monday (08.11), County Attorney David Laudner informed Supervisors that the expansion is being made possible by money received by the County from the opioid settlements from lawsuits against pharmaceutical companies which manufactured and distributed opioid medications.
Laudner said one way is to make educational programs already in place accessible to more students.
With the expansion, Laudner said the County will enter into a new agreement with Pathways Behavioral Services to fund the program’s expansion.
Supervisors approved the opioid funding distribution on a 5-0 vote.
