Rescheduled Duck Dash to be Held Friday (08.15) at Lions Field Pool in Charles City

Mother Mature has silenced their quacks since early July. But, now, the ducks are ready to dash in Charles City.

The All-American Duck Dash, originally scheduled to go off of the Main Street Bridge in Charles City and race to the finish line on the Cedar River July 5th, has been rescheduled for this Friday (08.15) at a new location. After it was determined by safety officials that the river was too wild this summer with all of the rains locally and up north, the event has been moved to Lions Field swimming pool in Charles City.

Community Development Director Mark Wicks says, “We will be sending the numbered plastic ducks down the pool’s water slide in heats to determine which of them will make the final cut and be included in the grand finale. The final race will determine who our grand prize winner of $1,000 is, as well as the other 24 cash prize winners.”

The Duck Dash, a joint fundraiser for the Charles City Area Chamber of Commerce and the Main Street Charles City program, will be held following the closing of the pool at 6 pm on Friday.

Duck Dash tickets remain on sale through 4 pm Thursday (08.14) at the Chamber/Main Street office at 401 North Main Street. They are $5 each, or a ‘Six Quack’ for $25.

The public is welcome to watch the races down the slide on Friday, but the winners do not need to be present to win.

For more information, please contact the Chamber/Main Street office at (641) 228-4234 or email [email protected]

Winners will be posted over the weekend on both the Chamber and Main Street Charles City Facebook pages.
