Yvonne Regel, 92, of Charles City

Yvonne Regel, 92, of Charles City, passed away Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at the Floyd County Medical Center in Charles City.

A funeral service for Yvonne Regel will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, August 8, 2025, at Hauser Weishaar Funeral Home with Erik Hoefer officiating.  Burial will be at Sunnyside Memory Gardens in rural Charles City, Iowa.

Yvonne Lee (Valeske) Regel, the daughter of Carl and Edna (Swant) Valeske was born on November 6, 1932, in Charles City, IA. The family farm was located in Colwell, IA where Yvonne attended school and graduated in 1950. She had two older sisters, Beverly (Jerry) Copper of Charles City, IA and Arlene (Gerald) Dawley of Eagle Grove, IA, plus a younger sister Joan (Peter) Courneen of Santa Cruz, CA.  She also had an older brother Galan Valeske that died as an infant.  On July 7, 1951, Yvonne was united in marriage to Edgar Regel in Charles City, IA.

Yvonne was a stay-at-home mom until her husband Edgar passed away on June 13, 1979, at age 50. Edgar worked for Sears in Charles City for a number of years.  After Edgar’s death, Yvonne worked for an American Family Insurance Agency and Kmart, both in Charles City.  Yvonne enjoyed her family and was an excellent cook, having several Holiday dinners for her family.  Yvonne was an avid Bingo player, which she enjoyed with friends around the Charles City area.

Living family members include her children Bonnie (Gary) Chesnut of Omaha, NE and Rick (Elaine Jennings) Regel of Charles City, IA. Seven Grandchildren include Erin (Ben) Bobay, Raleigh, NC, Nic (Mindy) Chesnut, Omaha, NE, Jessica (Dana) Deskiewicz, Raleigh, NC, Ben (Amy) Chesnut, Omaha, NE, Whitney (Adam) Walter, Parkville, MO, Lynsey (Cole) Sharon, Omaha, NE, and Cala (Josh) Molstead, Charles City, IA. Yvonne also enjoyed 22 Great-Grandchildren along with her many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

He lives in Charles City with his endlessly patient wife Vicki and their kids, Brynlee and Jaxon, who have already perfected the art of the eye‑roll every time Dad cracks another “dad joke.”
