Charles City officials hosted a ribbon cutting and dedication Friday (07.25) for the new all-inclusive playground at Sportsmen’s Park.
Prior to the ribbon cutting, Jeff Otto with the Parks and Recreation Board thanked the donors who made the Donna White Memorial Playground possible.
The project was a long time becoming a reality for Park-Rec Director Tyler Mitchell.
Mitchell says the City is also working with the Charles City Rotary Club on adding a shaded seating area adjacent to the playground, designed to be accessible to kids of varying physical capabilities and/or disabilities.
That’s not the last of enhancements coming to Sportsmen’s Park.
Mitchell says they’ll also be working to improve parking as well as developing better access to drive into and out of the park.
