Gerald “Jerry” Kreger, 71, of Charles City

Gerald “Jerry” Kreger, 71, of Charles City, passed away at his home on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, with his loving family by his side.
A funeral service for Jerry will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 3, 2025, at Hauser Weishaar Funeral Home in Charles City with Pastor Patty Kellogg officiating.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at Hauser Weishaar Funeral Home and continue one hour prior to the service on Thursday.
Gerald Lee Kreger, the son of Cecil and Fern (Fenneman) Kreger, was born on June 11, 1954, in Charles City. He attended schools in Charles City and graduated high school in 1973. Jerry was united in marriage to Sherri (Goddard) Nelson and to this union one daughter, Heather, was born. The couple later divorced. Jerry later married Teresa Baker on May 27, 1983, and three children were born: Cecil, Paula, and Brenda.
Jerry worked for White Farm in Charles City, John Deere in Waterloo, and Armour Food Co. in Mason City. He enjoyed attending auctions and collecting coins, antiques, and model trains. He also enjoyed playing cards, especially 500 and Euchre with friends and King’s Corner and War with his grandchildren. Jerry was a big football fan and cheered on the Miami Dolphins. Jerry loved spending time outdoors camping, deer hunting, and fishing. He was a very sociable person, never knew a stranger, and could strike up a conversation with anybody. Most of all, Jerry loved his family and spending time with them.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Teresa; children: Heather (Darin) Lumm of Medford, Minnesota, Cecil Kreger of Charles City, Paula (Thad) Johnson of Wellsburg, and Brenda (Jamie Anderson) Kreger of Charles City; grandchildren: Allen, Ivan and Trevor Johnson; sisters: Janice (Doug) Nauman of Nashua and Elaine Ballhagen of Johnston; brother, Jim (Jan) Kreger of Elgin, Illinois; sister-in-law, Bev Kreger of Wisconsin; brothers-in-law: Nick (Sue) Baker of Ionia and Jim (Paula) Baker of Charles City; and mother-in-law, Lorraine Baker of Charles City; along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter Kreger; brothers: Rick and Merlin Kreger; brother-in-law, Mike Baker; and father-in-law, Paul Baker.
