North Iowa Region Drought Free in Latest Report

For the first time this year, there’s no drought or abnormally dry conditions in Floyd or Chickasaw County, according to the latest U.S. Drought Monitor for Iowa

Based on precipitation through 7 am Tuesday, June 17th, both counties, plus Bremer, Butler, Cerro Gordo, Franklin, Grundy, Hancock, Howard, Mitchell, Winnebago, Worth and Wright counties, were rated “NONE” for having no drought in any areas of those counties. 

The vast majority of Winneshiek and western two-thirds of Fayette counties are also drought-free, with remaining areas of those counties rated D0 for abnormally dry.

All of Allamakee and Clayton counties are also abnormally dry, along with almost all of Black Hawk and Buchanan counties.

*The next drought report comes out Thursday (06.26) based on precip through 7 am Tuesday (06.24).
