Deer Leads to Second Fatal Crash in Nine Days in Northeast Iowa

For the second straight weekend, a deer has played a role in a fatal crash in the same Northeast Iowa county.

The Iowa State Patrol (ISP) says the latest wreck occurred about 8:45 am Saturday (05.31) morning near mile marker 42 on Highway 76 in Allamakee County. 64-year-old Daniel Fisher of Salem, Wisconsin, was driving a Harley Davidson northbound when the motorcycle hit a deer in the roadway. Fisher then lost control of the bike and it came to rest in the east ditch

ISP says Fisher was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene north of Waukon.

The Allamakee County Sheriff’s Office, Waukon Fire Department, Allamakee County Medical Examiner, and Danny Mac’s Towing,  Veterans Memorial Hospital Ambulance also responded to the crash.

Just over a week prior, on the night of May 23rd, also in Allamakee County, an ATV hit a deer near Waterville. The collision caused the vehicle to overturn and pin 33-year old Heather Lynn Jones of Raymond underneath it. She would be pronounced dead at the scene.
