Former Charles City Police Officer to be Laid to Rest Friday (05.30)

A former Charles City Police officer will be laid to rest later this week.
Victor “Vic” Dunn, Jr., passed away May 21st at Floyd County Medical Center in Charles City. He joined the CCPD in August 1966 and retired in December 1999, after 33 years of service to the community.
After the infamous Charles City tornado of May 15, 1968, Dunn was honored with the Certificate of Commendation by the Iowa Civil Defense Division for Meritorious Service to the people of Charles City. In 1974, he was named Outstanding Young Law Enforcement Officer by the Charles City Jaycees and the Iowa Jaycees.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Dunn will be held at 10:30 am Friday (05.30) at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Charles City. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Charles City.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 pm Thursday (05.29) at Hauser Weishaar Funeral Home in Charles City where a Rosary will be prayed at 4:30 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour before the service at the church on Friday.
Dunn was 80-years-old.
