Mason City Man Gets Decade in Prison for Sexual Abuse of Underage Victim in Floyd County

A Mason City man will spend a decade in prison after pleading guilty to sexual abuse of an underage female in Floyd County. 

According to the criminal complaint filed by Nora Springs Police, 33-year old Joshua Jasso was charged in August 2024 with third-degree sexual abuse of a child, a Class C felony. Jasso allegedly performed a sexual act with a 15-year-old female in Nora Springs on or about April 2, 2024.

In February, Jasso entered an Alford plea to the charge as part of a plea agreement. With an Alford plea, a person does not admit guilt but acknowledges there is enough evidence for a likely conviction.

Monday (05.12), in Floyd County District Court, Judge DeDra Schroeder on Monday (05.12) sentenced Jasso to 10 years in prison.

Court records show Jasso with several prior convictions, including third-degree burglary, assault, interference with official acts, escape from a detention facility and a pair of OWIs.
