Breaking: Law Enforcement, Emergency Personnel Still on Scene of Tractor Crash Near Charles City

Law enforcement and emergency personnel were still on the scene as of 10 am where a wreck occurred along the Avenue of the Saints, about one-and-a-half miles southeast of Charles City.

Initial reports are that a tractor, pulling a planter, was rear-ended by another vehicle as both were traveling in the northbound lanes of the highway, causing the tractor to overturn into the east ditch, around 8:30 am Friday (05.09).

Reports also indicate one-person was ejected, but it’s not known if that was the operator of the tractor.

The Iowa State Patrol, Floyd County Sheriff’s Office, Charles City Police, Iowa DOT, Charles City Fire Rescue and other emergency personnel responded to the scene.

The right lane of the northbound lane Highway 218/27 in the immediate vicinity of the crash is closed, but the left lane remains open and traffic is flowing in both directions.

We will bring you more information as it becomes available.
