Congresswoman Ashley Hinson Makes Swing Through Mason City, Colwell, New Hampton

Iowa U.S. Congresswoman Ashley Hinson made a swing through northern Iowa Thursday (04.24), including a town hall meeting at North Iowa Area Community College in Mason City, attended by about 150 people.

Hinson told the crowd it’s Congress’ role to make sure they protect the integrity of national security, when she responded to a question about the  SignalChat flap involving Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth in which plans for an airstrike on Yemen were discussed.

On another national security issue, Hinson also drew crowd reaction when addressing the immigration situation in the United States.

Hinson also defended the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) cuts in efforts to trim the country’s $36 trillion debt, claiming the previous administration approved $10 million for male circumcision in Mozambique and $20 million for Arab Sesame Street.

Hinson also addressed questions about the Farm Bill, Medicaid, and healthcare during the hour-long forum. A link to the audio from the NIACC town hall is available with this story on our station website. northiowanow.com

Hinson also made visits Thursday to The Mill in Colwell and Little Sprouts Children’s Center in New Hampton, plus appeared in a Facebook live interview from Readlyn in Bremer County.
